Day 23: Hollywood and Laguna Beach

Day 23 of the Grand Western Tour began with a trip to the one and only, Hollywood, California. This Los Angeles neighborhood is considered home of the U.S. film industry and many of its TV and movie stars. The group got to experience Hollywood Boulevard, a very popular tourist destination that contains the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This stretch of 15 blocks contains over 2,600 stars embedded in the sidewalk! Some of the most popular stars included Betty White, Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, Donald Trump, Jimmy Kimmel and Marilyn Monroe.

Hollywood Boulevard is also the location of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. This theater has been has held many movie premieres including the "The King of Kings" and "Star Wars". The newly renovated IMAX theater can hold 932 people and is one of the largest in North America!

If you squint your eyes or use binoculars you can spot the Hollywood Sign from the back of the Hollywood and Highland Center, also on Hollywood Boulevard. The sign is definitely one of the most iconic landmarks in the city!

We went to the famous Original Farmer's Market for lunch which near the CBS Network Studio. There are over 100 venders in the market that have foods ranging from American cuisine to Asian stir fry and everything in between. They also have bakeries, ice cream parlors and fruit stalls. The Farmer's Market had it all!

At the Market, we had two bold daredevils, Vance and Tilghman, that tasted the "hottest pepper in the world". The goal was to eat it and not drink anything for 5 minutes. Unfortunately, the heat of the pepper was unbearable and neither contender could handle it!

Midday, the group had time to relax by the pool and do some necessary laundry before heading to Laguna Beach for the evening. As soon as we stepped foot on the beach, most of the group rushed straight for the Pacific Ocean! They soon realized that we were no longer on the east coast. The waves were huge and the current was strong!
