Day 25: San Diego to Las Vegas, Nevada

After 8 great days in sunny California, we packed our bags up in San Diego, took a sharp left, and officially started the drive back east! The Kings Inn made us a special breakfast spread of fruit, pastries, bagels, orange juice, milk and coffee and sent us on our way towards Las Vegas, Nevada.

The kiddos were super pumped when we pulled up to an In-N-Out in Barstow, California, for lunch. This may be their last chance on the tour to eat at this famous burger joint. This In-N-Out location is also a hot spot for t-shirts. Keep an eye out for black t-shirts with a palm tree lined sunset. Others opted for Panera Bread, Chipotle, or Panda Express.

We pulled into Las Vegas and it was a smoking 112 degrees according to Clarence's bus thermometer! We passed a few famous hotels like MGM, Planet Hollywood, Excalibur, and New York New York. They all seem larger than life. We must be good luck too because it started raining soon after we checked into the hotel! What are the odds?

This evening we went to the Miracle Mile Shops for dinner and a show. This 1.2 mile long mall is at the center of the Las Vegas Strip. The mall is lined with popular stores and restaurants and has several entertainment venues. The decor makes you feel like you are in the heart of a Moroccan city with blue skies and unique architectural rooftops. At the top of every hour there was a storm inside with rain, thunder, and lightning strikes! The crew dispersed for dinner to places like Blondies, Sbarro, Salsa Cantina, Chipotle, Lombardi's, and Ketchup Burger Bar.

Later on, we headed to the V Theater to see the V - the Ultimate Variety Show. We witnessed some incredible acrobatics such as the Aerial Expressions and Iouri & Nikolai. Their dangerous stunts required unbelievable concentration and strength. There were also a few comedy acts like the Crazy Gauchos and Ross Merlin. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the crazy show!

Our night ended with a drive down the bright and flashy Las Vegas Strip to get a glimpse the famous hotels and nightlife. We passed the Bellagio, Harrah's, the Venetian, Ceasar's Palace, Circus Circus, and many more! The traffic was busy and the sidewalks were packed and there was something exciting to see at every corner!
